Letha Woods, PhD

Dr. Woods earned a PhD in Neuroscience from Meharry Medical College School of Graduate Studies and Research. She completed postdoctoral training in Neuroscience at Vanderbilt University prior to joining Meharry as an Assistant Professor and the Inaugural Director of the Office for Professional Development. The Office for Professional Development was established to provide a professional development curriculum to broaden and complement traditional research training in biomedical sciences with the goal of preparing PhD students for postgraduate training and employment opportunities. In 2019, Dr. Woods was promoted to the Assistant Dean of Students and Professional Development, expanding her responsibilities to include PhD student recruitment and admissions, student advising, and tracking the academic progress of all PhD students admitted to the graduate school. In 2019, Dr. Woods was invited to join the E4B program at Washington University assisting with the recruitment of underrepresented minority (URM) students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
